I first encountered Salsa in 2008 through a club at Meiji University in Japan and was instantly captivated by the charm of partner dancing. I spent nearly every day attending classes and social dancing at various Salsa clubs across Tokyo!
In 2012, I joined the top-tier Japanese dance company, Golden Eggs, where I refined my performance techniques, strengthened my foundations in Lead & Follow, and deepened my understanding of musicality and body movement.
I was once the student who couldn't keep up, always falling behind. ADHD made it difficult for me to maintain focus, and growing up drifting between Taiwan, Japan, and Canada left me struggling to find a sense of belonging. During those years, it was "dancing" that gave me rhythm, physical awareness, and confidence. This is why my teaching style is gentle yet firm.
I will accompany my students through repetitive practice of basic steps because I know that what matters most is often hidden within the fundamentals.
I want to create more than just a class; I want to build a space where you can feel safe to stumble, secure to learn, and free to improve at your own pace.
